I’m not sure if I remember how all of this happened. One day things were wonderful, and then horrible, and then I was experiencing the greatest moments of my life. But, now I was handcuffed to a pipe in the bottom of a sewer twenty feet underground. I stopped screaming about an hour ago. The smell and taste that I brought in after ever scream made me gag. How did all of this happen? I was just trying to get home and visit my family. I went away for one weekend for a business meeting and all of this happened. I probably should have known not to eat that peach cobbler. You can never trust peaches. I probably should have known not to trust a man with green muttonchops. Green isn’t the greatest color. And, I definitely should have known not to trust Samuel to send me to a coffee shop in the middle of the city. Samuel doesn’t know anything about coffee, he loves tea.
“HELP!! ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME!” I stopped screaming and hurled as far away from where I was standing. It didn’t help. The puke floated towards me and around my ankles. Around my ankles? That means the water is rising. Crap. I tried to recall as much information about what happened. How many people were in the café with me? What street was it on? What time was it? I thought I saw the sun when a little light came through a crack above me, but it had to be some kind of streetlight or something. It flickered on and off too consistently for it to be the sun. How am I supposed to get out of here?
I heard a loud distant rumble and then noticed the water around my ankles rise to the middle of my shin.
