Insomnia: Part 1

Cover Image

I dreamt a nightmare once,

And I awoke in a start.

It wasn't monsters that chased me.

It wasn't enemies that sought to spar.

It was the most beautiful girl,

That burdened my heart.

She came to me on rollerskates,

But crashed to her knees.

I told her, I'm flying to you,

I asked her, may I see you, please?

But when she looked up to smile,

Her face -- there was none to see.

In the moonlight of night,

I stared at the ceiling.

Did I know her?

Was it my imagining?

I thought, with my wife,

Lying next to me that evening.
