Breathe

By herkatastrophe

Giant clocks devour the sky, and in its place,

cages.

Silver rods, glinting behind a misleading

sun,

crawl and slither, eating away at

time.

You look into the kiss of hydrogen gas

burning

in the sky. Academia says this should be

impossible;

eyes cannot withstand the bleary, violent

rage.

But metal fence’s are gnawing at your skin, and your

watching,

staring at the impossibility. Maybe the theft of air, being

ripped

from your chest has been traded for the damned sight. You

close

your eyes and wish it gone. Wish to be

blinded,

senseless, oblivious to the cruel onslaught of

invisible

torture. To abandon cognizance of the

ticking,

ticking.

To tick away at the relentless grasp, choking your

sanity.

Hot breath, thick tongues slide down your

face,

the iron encasement pressed against your

lungs,

the suns lust leaving raised

scars

on your body. Your shell goes rigid, the

metal

suddenly feels cool. You know this is

death,

and your grateful at how quickly it comes.

White

noise dances within your dead ears, and

ticking.

You open your eyes to darkness, to a

sea

of contentarousedgiddyscaredlonelywishful. Your

heart

is beating, echoing the mute shift of time. The

black

expanse opens its arms. Your lips follow suit.

You inhale sweet uncertainty, you

Breathe.
