White mountains float across the blue. Macy's eyes seem to swallow them, her chest rising and falling in slow, deep breaths. We're lying on coarse grass that gets softer minute by minute and the warmth of the sun has gone deep into our bones. My mind swims amongst empty spaces and unfinished thoughts. "Is it a void?" she whispers into the air. The words seem to hang above us like a haze. I breathe them in, turning them around in my lungs. "It just goes on and on and on and if you scream, it eats you up like you were a dream and then there is nothing. And I can't comprehend nothing cos' even when I sleep I dream and...Cole, do you think the universe is dreaming?"
