New Colossus Read

By ManWithHat

Courtesy of Emma Lazarus and the Statue of Liberty.

This poem is such a big deal. It's a big deal for feminism, because it's a woman's words inscribed on one of the most identifiable, historic landmarks in the world. That someone could look out onto America and see this vision still, or ever, is either a case of remarkable faith or remarkable naivete.

Also, this poem was America flipping the New Jersey state bird to Europe via Ms. Lazarus.
