Make a wish. A Poem

Oh shining star, up in the night,
Tell me your secrets, give me your light.
When I made a wish, I got no reply,
I beg of you stars, please tell me why.

Was I too selfish, was I too cruel,
Was I too greedy, am I a fool?
I didn't think I asked for much,
Just need a little more luck.

Oh shining star, up in the night,
Tell me your secrets, give me your light.
When I made a wish, I got no reply,
I beg of you stars, please tell me why.

Why do you fall for the wishes of us,
Why do make such a sacrifice?
Because not a single wish had come true,
I'm beginning to lose faith in you.

Oh shining star, up in the night,
Tell me your secrets, give me your light.
When I made a wish, I got no reply,
I beg of you stars, please tell me why.

I guess wishing on stars seems childish,
But there's something about making a wish,
In the midst of the night, moonlight on your face,
As you wish for the arms of a warm embrace.

Oh shining star, up in the night,
Tell me your secrets, give me your light.
I wished that this love would always last,
But I guess it's pointless to wish on the past.
