a Love poem

Cover Image

Our embrace was a sweet abandon

From the bitterness of life.

Your incomplete perfection inspired

My ever-growing mind to fullness,

A fullness becoming foreign to me.

What I have lost,

The essence of love,

Or the trueness of living?

I have lost you,

Your caring self,

And condemned you

To the depths of my underworld.

Realization now floods my mind

With guilty and undesirable images

Of half-hearted pleasures never achieved;

Of lies never told but spoken aloud;

Of what could have been;

Of what never will be.
