From the Sanskrit word for shadow and the Latin word for hive, these shadows are cast by tree branches, leaves and in some cases, moving water. Their scattered nature causes them to form large rolling masses with new shadows forming and dispersing continuously. While the Chayeari are made up of individual shadows they share a collective consciousness and often speak in unison; though each shadow can speak individually. While most shadows avoid the Chayeari due to their unsettling appearance and enigmatic speech, some believe they know secrets that even the most ancient shadows do not fully understand.
