Such beautiful art, of an eccentric heart, was produced by dear Henri Toulouse,
His colors so vivid, his soul was so fervid, and the women-he loved to seduce,
His poison of choice, held the green fairy's voice, absinthe ran through dear Lautrec's veins,
And unfortunately, led to his death-untimely, along with his refusal to abstain,
But in his short time, he produced art so sublime, bearing pieces of his lovely spirit,
His post-impressionist work, mixed with his wonderful quirk, continuously earns him praiseworthy merit,
His provocative art, was what set him apart, from other wonderful artists who shared his love,
And I hope in Heaven, he is graciously given, a brush to keep painting above,
One day we will meet, and I'll be head over feet, but until then I bid you adieu,
So dear Henri, with love from me, here's a warm-hearted toast to you.
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was a wonderful artist who I adore. This toast doesn't do his work justice, but it's a little piece to let him know his art is still loved and appreciated. For those unfamiliar with his work, he is very famous for his large, colorful paintings of the moulin rouge and its' prostitutes. However, all of his paintings, sketches and etchings are wonderful.
