Old Silver

Cover Image

Lift the light sheet

and bring the scent to me

the one that left the earth

and washed away in rippling tides

remember the sing song voice

canary bird, hoarse

from too many years silent

Grey eyes that once saw me,

crystal clear sadness

turn over once more in mind

searching on the waves

those times we lived taken

as short as darkened winter days

I wish the world would turn

and that silver deities

could whisk you away

from the stone hands

of no more

but decades and Decembers

and one last do-over are the fleeting sands

of time past and spent

I mourn you again, bitter sweet

one wish rendered obsolete.
