Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.
Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump.

The only sounds you hear are the steady beating of your heart
And the sounds coming from the gentle rising and falling of your chest.
The weight of the silence presses down on your being.
You close your eyes and tell yourself not to be afraid.

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.
Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump.

The on going silence turns to sounds
You’ve never heard before,
But you know they’re only in your head
As you lie there on the floor.

Crashing, banging
People speaking
Bumping, clanging
Water leaking

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.
Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump.

You feel your mind is slowly slipping,
While lying on the floor.
Sanity has gone out skipping,
And left you with no more.

Cymbals, popping, fizzing, cracking
Fireworks, this can’t be napping

This empty room feels full of sound
Yet you know that it’s still deafeningly quiet.
The darkness comes in all around,
Yet the sound
You can’t defy it

Jumping, laughing
Your mother screaming
Thumping, whacking
Jesus gleaming

Hear the car horn blaring
Feel the people staring

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale
Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-
“Quoth the Raven ‘Nevermore’”

But in the end it’s only silence,
The least harmless of them all.
So why is it this very sound
That’s caused so many to fall?
