INT. ROOM – DAY

OUT of BLACK.
We see the ceiling then we focus on LEO’s face. LEO, 24, good looking man.

LEO
Sometimes I hear him talking to me.

MAN (O.S)
What does he say to you?

LEO
He wants me to tell the truth.

MAN (O.S)
What truth?

LEO
His.

MAN (O.S)
Can you see what he tells you?

Leo is closing his eyes slowly.

LEO (O.S)
Now I can. I see it clearly.

FADE out to BLACK.

INT. DINING HALL – DAWN

A candle flame is lighting LEO’s face in a unique game of shadows and lights. The candle, lights the dining hall the way that most of it is still shaded.
LEO is standing on the scaffolding with a big painting brush to his hand.

He stares at the wall in front of him and waiting peacefully.
The moment a ray of sunshine reveals upon the wall he is taking a big breath and raising his brush towards the wall, painting stripes one after another.

LEO (V.O)
He used to arrive in the early hours, climbing
on the scaffolding and accessing work.

FADE to BLACK.

INT. ITALIAN RESTAURANT ENTRANCE – NIGHT

A gorgeous Italian HOSTESS is standing at the entrance, talking to her manager. She’s with her back to the guests.

LEO (V.O)
You like what you see ha?! So does my best
friend Bandello. He took us all to this Italian
restaurant. He said he has got some news for us.

BANDELLO is standing next to Leo, staring at the HOSTESS’s perfect body.
BANDELLO, Leo and their friends were dressed in some sort of a funny curtain and had long hair.

LEO (V.O)
Bandello. My best friend. He was the religious
guy in our group. Some will even say he was the leader.

Leo stands to BANDELLO’s right and all their friends are in the back. Suddenly we see Leo elbows BANDELLO’s ribs. BANDELLO bends a little from the slight pain.

LEO
(With his teeth closed)
Say something!

BANDELLO took one step forward to approach the HOSTESS and poke her shoulder.

BANDELLO
Excuse me.

The manager signals her to turn around and then he walks in to the restaurant. The HOSTESS turns around smiling at Bandello. When she turns around it looks to Bandello as if she goes in slow motion. She looks like an Italian maiden with such a breathtaking beauty.

BANDELLO
Hi.

LEO
(Whispers)
That’s not what I meant.

HOSTESS
(Beautiful Italian accent)
Hi. Sorry about that.

BANDELLO
It’s ok.

HOSTESS
So, party for…

The hostess is counting the group she sees.

HOSTESS
13?

BANDELLO
Indeed la mia bella.

HOSTESS
So you speak Italian?!

BANDELLO
(Cynical)
No. me?!

LEO (V.O)
Of course he had spoken. He was Italian.
We all were, for Christ sake.

The hostess smiles at him like she is seducing him.

HOSTESS
Seguire me prego.

The hostess goes to open the door and Bandello turns around to his group which didn’t really care much but themselves. Bandello claps his hands once.

BANDELLO
People!

The whole group attention suddenly focused on Bandello.

BANDELLO
Let’s all get inside please. Our table is waiting.

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

Bandello is sitting restless with a knife and fork to his hands while the rest are just having a conversation. The table was all set and beautifully arranged but one thing. No food is on it. Leo who sits next to him is staring at a beautiful waitress handling the register.

LEO (V.O)
She caught my attention as if she was painted
in the colors of life. She had the perfect skin
pigments my eyes have ever seen. I wished she will serve…

BANDELLO
(Cutting in)
Listen, Leo, if a waitress will not approach
us in a minute we’re out!

LEO
What about the hostess?

BANDELLO
Fuck the hostess!

Bandello puts the silverwares down on the table in anger and takes his chair back, to get up.

LEO (V.O)
This is where I take part.

Leo is holding Bandello’s hand and places it forcefully on his napkin. It holds back Bandello from getting up.

LEO (V.O)
I had to be a bit aggressive.

BANDELLO
I’m just going to call a waitress.

LEO
Yea, right. Sit down and relax damn it! Why
can’t you be like everybody? For just once!

Bandello sits down and sips from his glass which he forgets is empty. He puts the glass aggressively on the table and gets up.

BANDELLO
I’m off to the restrooms!

INT. MEN’S RESTROOMS – NIGHT

We see the toilets cells all closed and the sound of flushing water comes from one of the cells. Bandello comes out from the last one. He is washing his hands and face and looking at himself in the mirror.

LEO (V.O)
Something was wrong with him but I can’t
really tell what. Something Was definitely
bothering him. Anyways…

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

As soon as Leo noticed the hostess is looking towards their table he raises his hand to call her to come. She shakes her head as if she agrees to approach.

LEO
(Looking at us)
It did suck to wait that much, I admit. But I have
no lack of patience. Trust me it pays eventually.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. DINING HALL – DAWN

Leo is painting strips one after another and we FOLLOW him THROUGH the WHOLE day. The light in the hall grows bigger as the day continues. Leo is keeping up with painting a blurry background on the wall.

As the day turns slowly to night he goes down on the scaffolding. When the sunlight is totally gone, the candle which is almost melts to an end is dimming in the dining hall when eventually Leo blows it off.

LEO (V.O)
There were, even, times he spent there from
dawn till sunset and did not leave his brush
even for a moment. Forgot to drink and eat,
and painted with no rest.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

The hostess comes to Leo.

HOSTESS
Hi. Is everything ok sir?

He signs her to come closer so he can whispers in her ear.

LEO
We don’t have a waitress yet. I didn’t want to
cause you any troubles. Please do something.
Before my friend will…

Leo suspends for a second to think if to say what he wants.

HOSTESS
(Giggling)
Will what?

LEO
Prendere il di fottere fuori di qui.
(Translation: get the fuck out of here).
According to his words.

HOSTESS
He’s pissed ha?! Don’t worry.

She is looking around to find the closest waitress she can get.
She finds MONA, 23, beautiful girl, in her eyes. She immediately walks to her. We can’t hear them but they are standing and talking for a second and the hostess is pointing on Leo’s table, showing her where to go next.

Leo is looking at them and both the hostess and waitress are smiling at him and sign him with their heads that they answered to his request.

LEO (V.O)
(While looking at the waitress)
Her smile seemed to me like the sun, bursting
out rays of heat all over the universe the way
their warmth is touching my heart and melting it slowly.

Leo is looking on us now.

LEO
So I’m poetic. So what?! It’s not like I’m
gay or something.

He gives us a strange look, like he is trying to understand his own subconscious. MONA, the waitress enters the frame and takes his focus from us. We see her standing in front of the big table with her little notepad and her pen.

MONA
Hi everyone I’m Mona and I’ll be your waitress
for today. I’m sorry for having you waiting for so long.
We will definitely compensate you.

When she is saying the last sentence she is focusing on Leo.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. DINING HALL – NIGHT

Leo stands in the middle of the dimming dining room and drops his paintbrush on the ground. The dimming dining hall is blurring our view so we can’t really see what’s on the wall.

Leo stood there in the middle looking at the wall and getting closer to it. In the frame we see him observing closely his creation. As we FOLLOW his gaze we see only a small blurry piece of his creation the way we can’t know what is pained there.

He takes one step back and we see him standing and crossing his arms, observing and criticizing within oneself the way we can’t hear. To his right, on the ground are laying a few melting candles.

LEO (V.O)
Some times he has have not touched the
paintbrush for three, even, four days. Spending
hours every day by only observing his creation
with his arms crossed. Examine and criticizing
the characters within oneself.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

All the men in the table are talking loudly, laughing and pleasuring on the bread they got as first course. We can tell it is their favorite by the way they eat it. It is so fresh and looks so drawer. It takes place while the waitress almost done serving the bread to everyone.

LEO (V.O)
You can tell it was our favorite place. The best
of all was really their amazingly fresh Italian bread.
Hmm… delightful. We used to go there from time
to time to laugh, Talk, have a break from work.
You know, socializing. Until that very night…

INT. MEN’S RESTROOMS - NIGHT

Bandello is looking at himself in the mirror after washing his face.

BANDELLO
One of them will betray me!

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

Bandello comes back to the table. He is surprised for what he sees.

BANDELLO
Leo? Are you responsible for that?

LEO
For what?

Bandello gives him a “what can’t you understand?” look.

BANDELLO
The waitress?! The food?!

LEO
O’ that, yea, you know me. Handling the
situation and shit.

On the table we see the mess from the bread, few natural beverages and water.

LEO (V.O)
Don’t look for the coke. We didn’t
Have it back in the days. Did I mention it was
1495?! Time just flies when having fun ha?!

The picture turns to old style effect.

LEO (V.O)
No, no. Take it back the way it was before.

The picture turns to regular again.

LEO (V.O)
Much better!

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

The hostess is standing at the bar taking a silver glass. We FOLLOW her through the restaurant as she heading to Bandello’s table. When she arrives she ducks so she can be face to face with Bandello, between Bandello and Leo’s shoulders. Their eyes meet.

She whispers softly into his ear.

HOSTESS
Bandello, right?!

BANDELLO
Yes, how did you know?

HOSTESS
Your friend here told me.

She is pointing on Leo but looking into Bandello’s eyes.

HOSTESS
I like that name!

Trying not to have everybody’s attention, she took out of her back, the silver glass she brought and hands it to Bandello.

HOSTESS
This is for you bonbon.

She kisses his lips very fast and takes off.

LEO
So I see you already have some fans.

Bandello looks inside the silver glass and finds out she gave him from one of the finest wines they have in the restaurant.

LEO (V.O)
This is the best wine ever produced. It might
not seem like a big deal for you butit is. No one
gets a free glass of wine, the symbol of life.

Bandello is raising his glass of wine up in the air and with his other hand hits the table three times to have everyone’s attention and so they all were suddenly silent and their gazes on Bandello.

BANDELLO
Everybody, I want to have a toast.
Cheers, for all of us. To a new era, when we
all be living peacefully from now on.

LEO (V.O)
A pretty stupid sentence, when it comes from
this angry man. But who am I to judge?!

Leo raises his soft drink and follows him.

LEO
Cheers for that!

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. CORTE VECCHIA – AFTERNOON

On a big grass surface, Leo is working on an unfinished clay horse that stands there. He is making the finishing of the body section. He is working but his mind is somewhere else. Suddenly he drops his tools on the ground and leaves the place.

LEO (V.O)
In the afternoon, when the sun was up
in the sky, a sudden urge burst in him to
leave the Corte Vecchia, where he was
working on his amazing clay horse, and
comes straight to Santa Maria delle Grazie.

EXT. SANTA MARIA DELLE GRAZIE – AFTERNOON

We see the building from far away and we are getting closer to it. When we are close enough Leo comes into the frame and we FOLLOW him as he opens the doors.

EXT. DINING HALL - AFTERNOON

The doors are opening and we reveal the dining hall, washed by sun blinding rays so we can’t really see what is in there. Leo comes into the frame and we FOLLOW him as he walks into the dining hall. He walks in and disappears in these blinding rays.
FADE out to white.

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

OUT of WHITE we see from the POV of a man on the floor looking at the ceiling. The picture gets clearer and we see Leo’s face among his other friends.

LEO
Bandello.

Leo is waving his hand above Bandello’s eyes to check if he sees him.

LEO
Bandello? Are you ok?

FADE out to BLACK.

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

OUT of BLACK.
Leo is sitting on the floor, holding Bandello in his arms while Bandello is twitching.

LEO
(Screaming)
I need a doctor! Stay with me Bandello!

We focus on Leo’s face when a tear starting to shad from his left eye.

LEO
(Screaming)
Where is the fucking doctor?

Leo is now holding Bandello stronger and closer to his chest, crying tears.

LEO (V.O)
But I knew, even if there was a doctor he
would probably have no idea what to do in that case.

EXT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

We look inside the window of the restaurant and we see a big crowd standing at one spot, just staring. Suddenly we see a flickering red lights reflecting on the window and the rest of the restaurant. It grows stronger.

LEO (V.O)
That sound! I hated that sound and I didn’t
even know what it was. You may call it a
hunch but I knew it was not good.

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

Leo is holding Bandello close to his chest and all his friends are surrounding them. In this frame we can see to the back of them –- the entrance. The paramedics are bursting in and running to Bandello. The paramedic on charge bends over to Leo and Bandello.

PARAMEDIC
What happened to him?

LEO
(Crying and stuttering)
I have no idea. One moment he was talking
and having fun and a moment later he falls
back with his chair, unconscious.

PARAMEDIC
Did you execute a CPR?

LEO
A what?

PARAMEDIC
A CP… Forget it. Move a side.

Leo is gently putting Bandello on the ground and getting up. The paramedic is taking charge. He is trying to save Bandello. He is executing a CPR.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT

We focus on Bandello’s dead face being zipped by a black plastic bag.
FADE out to BLACK.

EXT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

The paramedics walk out of the restaurant with a sickbed and a big black plastic bag, zipped in the middle, on it. They walk to the ambulance, which it’s doors where open. Everybody is watching in amazement from the restaurant’s entrance.

We focus on Leo in front of everyone, and tears in his eyes. The ambulance doors are closing and the ambulance starts moving -- until it vanishes. One of the men standing at the entrance was making a “yea well…” expression.
FADE out to BLACK.

LEO (V.O)
This night will never be forgotten.
Bandello. My best friend is gone.

INT. HOSPITAL’S CORRIDOR – NIGHT

LEO (V.O)
I could not sleep that night. I went straight
to the hospital and waited till the morning…

Leo is sitting on the iron bench and waiting. The doors to his right are opening and a doctor holding a document comes straight to him. Leo gets up and the doctor explains him something.

LEO (V.O)
…When finally the autopsy results came
in and told me the obvious reason for
Bandello’s death.

INT. DINING HALL – AFTERNOON

Leo walks in through the sun rays. The hit inside makes him sweat but he doesn’t care about anything. Even the fact he had no shadows to cool him a little bit from the burning sun that gets inside the hall.

He climbs up the scaffoldings takes his paint brush draws it on the wall twice. Leo takes two steps backwards, throwing the paintbrush on the floor, looks at the wall and walks off. We do not see the wall yet.

LEO (V.O)
Without even finding cover from the hit he
was climbing up the scaffoldings, taking
his paintbrush, drawing with it once or
twice and takes off again.

FADE out to BLACK.
While black we see caption: Two months later…

INT. DINING HALL – DAY

The dining hall has been remodeled there are new fancy chandeliers, tables, chairs and flooring all over the place. The wall was covered by a big white curtain. The place was crowded by the aristocracy class.

Most of them are sitting and waiting for the HOST near the curtain to talk. The HOST is standing behind the podium and waits for the last ones to sit. When all are sited and a silence atmosphere exists:

HOST
Welcome everybody. Thank you all for
coming to the reopening of the Santa
Maria De La Garcia.

We see the crowd applause.

HOST
On top of that we have another special surprise
for you. Please welcome our well known, best
artist of all times. Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci.

As the crowd applause again, we see Leo getting up from his table which he was sitting there alone. He walks to the podium and shakes the host’s hand. The host is leaving the podium and goes out of the frame.

LEO
(Indifferent)
Thank you. Thank you very much. I want to
present to you all, the new technique I invented.
This will give much depth and character to all
our visions from now on. To all your portraits as well.
You lazy ass people.

Everybody laughs.

LEO
I call this technique “Fresco”. Named on the
Sala Da Pranzo’s amazing bread, which is
so fresh and inspiring…

We see the crowd nodding for agreement.

LEO
…But, enough descriptions. Let me show
you what I mean.

Leo is looking up.

LEO
(Whispering)
Bandello I hope you can see it.
This is for you my friend.

Leo is pulling the white curtain off of the wall. And the moment the curtain falls, we see the whole crowd amazed and it sounds like they have just taken their last breath.

LEO (V.O)
In this wall I had a vision to tell the world
a story. My story. I had painted Bandello,
our friends at the table and the damn glass
of wine. I wanted the world to know the truth.
It wasn’t the waitress or one of his friends
that killed Bandello. Not even the suspicious hostess.

This is the first time we see the whole creation on the wall. With every description Leo says we see one piece. It is shown like flashbacks -- first we see Jesus. Second we see groups of friends one after another and then we see the glass of wine.

After all the flashbacks we reveal the whole creation –- THE LAST SUPPER.

Fade out to BLACK.

LEO (V.O)
It was religion who killed my best friend.

INT. ROOM – DAY

We see Leo’s face. He opens his eyes in amazement like he had just realized something.

BLACK.
