By ZoomPie

When standing alone
Katydids buzzing
You, self-involved, at my side
Dry translucent light
Tethering our tears
Us in the Arizona night
Did you find or feel what I
Came for, lived for, longed for,
My generations grew here, belonged here
Claimed me, calmed me, deeply disturbed me
Horses run free, untied and untried
Alive in the Arizona night
Where you guessing, as I did
That we'd soon be through
While deep night sank into our bones
The hummingbirds remember
What the castle could not
The people, the faces, the twisted sunny places
Concealed in the Arizona night
