just don't leave us here with blackened heels

By blbest

I started a project months ago in which I plan to write one poem a day for an entire year, here's one from the batch.

**********************************************************************
we're made of nothing more than flesh and bone
but leave it to us
to not leave it alone,
and to complicate such
a simple structure
to the point where we
can barely function,
blame it on corruption
or human nature
but we're all similar enough
to want the same,
a heart worth taking
and a smile with a name;
we'll cuss and curse
til the good words
find a way out,
before we're bankrupt
in the back of an old black hearse
damning the system
of endlessly searching
to find them;
the ones of such awful
addiction, that mean nothing
more than honest intention.
it's so very simple.
we'll drag ourselves through hell.

hate the ones that won't take us in,
"there's no excuse for your exclusion of me"
we shout in the rain,
convince ourselves we feel nothing but pain,
but we march on
and trudge through the storms
and seasons that extend far too long,
we'll drag ourselves through hell.
it's so very simple.
