Cao Dai ceremony

By jillashley1216

I able to watch a Cao Dai service- for those of you not familiar- Cao Dai is a religion founded in the 1920s (I believe) that is a fusion of Catholicism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. It was very popular in southern Vietnam in the 50s, 60s, and 70s-- and still in practice today. It is very odd-- the temples seem to have almost a Disney-esque feel to them- and the detail in the ritual is unlike anything I have ever seen-- the men wear the three different colors to represent the three different religions that make Cao Dai- and all the women must wear white.
