1. Who are you and what do you do?

HI! I am gwy, most hours of the day i try to make open spaces a better/happier/safe/nicer place (working as a landscape architect) and the other hours i create, love, laugh, talk, listen, read, enjoy, illustrate, connect, take theatre class, learn japanese,...

2. What's the origin of your artist name?

Gwy is short for gwydion - originally that is a celtic god but i picked up the name in a novel about King Arthur when i was 14 and it stuck with me (King Arthur and the name).

3. What has been your biggest challenge with your art so far?

To make the things look like they do in my head and find the right medium and to be patient and to sometimes accept failure.

4. Who or what is your biggest influence?

Earth: people, nature, animals. I cannot really say if there is anything that wouldn't influence and inspire me. My first influence were my parents, my father can draw really well and i admired his skill and use of colour and my mother is very good at technical drawings so i learned about two very different sides of how to get an idea on paper very early.

5. What is your wildest story?

Going on weekend trips to meet online friends in europe who i only know from emails/chat. That has been pretty amazing so far and i had so so so many wonderful experiences and inspiration and i just love chatting with people and knowing what they think about and what makes them who they are and what their view on the world is. (That doesn't sound very wild though, i realise. It was wild for the mind not the body  :) )

6. What is the last book you read?

I am always reading more than one book at the same time. So the last books i finished (this month) were 'Never let me go' by Ishiguro Kazuo, 'The Curious Incident of the dog in the night-time' by Mark Haddon, 'The Angel's Game' by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, 'The chemistry of death' and 'Written in bone' by Simon Beckett.

7. If you could be any character in fiction, who would you be?

Pippi Longstocking. (I have no idea, nothing else comes to my mind)

8. What couldn’t you live without?

laughing with friends, feeling part of something, trying to change things/making things better, smelling the rain, hugging trees, my camera, drawing, hitrecord :) (though i did live without it for so long!)

9. What is your secret talent?

you don't really think i will tell you?!

10. Tell me about the last dream you remember having?

I was trying to run from something but i don't remember what exactly. It wasn't too scary.Maybe it was spiders.

11. What are you craving right now?

12. What was the last song you fell in love with?

Rubiks Cube by Athlete and Everything is on fire by wirrow

13. Can you hula hoop?

Of course :D Well... at least last time i tried :)

14. What do you like?

(see also question #1 and #8 for answers) Other things not mentioned before: chocolate, hugs, laughter, my laptop, coffee, museums, theatre, exploring new cities, sunrise, trees, colours, decorating, organising, being silly, dancing, poi

15. What do you dislike?

intolerance, arrogance, no care for nature

16. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

the most recent one (from my mom) that made me feel so much better suddenly was that i do not need to bend myself to make it work - it sometimes just doesn't fit.

17. How and why did you start RECording?

I wrote stories right after i was able to write, i remember Fips the dog and a story about a fly and about the horse that i wanted but never got, so i had to imagine it.

I wrote poems when i was 14 and thought the world was ending because i was in love but he didn't like me back, i wrote short stories when i was 16 because i had to get out all the feelings i had inside.

I started drawing when i was three or four and haven't really stopped.

...and feel like i only just started, thank you, hitrecorders for all the inspiration <3
