You don't wear a cape, but I can see the hero behind the wrinkles in your hands that worked countless hours to make sure we were taken care of. I wasn't aware then as a child knowing how all of the stories you told, would soon become some of the same stories I tell my children; Like your favorite story of the wise old owl! Oh how wise he was. I can't tell you how thankful I am that you stayed with my mother as I toddled around on your dates, instead of running in the opposite direction for an easier path. We haven't always seen eye to eye, but as I look back-I can tell why you fought with me so hard. To help me grow to help me learn to help me understand the basic concepts of life that sometimes not every one gets to learn. Thank you for being my dad. For making the monsters go away, brushing my hair every day in elementary before I went off to school. For the trips and memories we made. Taking on a responsibility that wasn't yours. Nurturing that responsibility in to the adult I am today. In less than 4 months now, I can't wait for you to walk me down the aisle to the next chapter of my life! Thank you dad for being you!
