FADE IN:

EXT/INT. RED CAR - DAY

Pouring rain hits the windshield of the car.

CARL leans over the steering wheel and cleans the fogged windshield.

                    CARL

          It is pouring Cats!

Carl looks in the rear mirror.

On the back seat lies his overweight LABRADOR. Sleeping.

Carl sighs and stopes at a red light. He looks back and touches the dogs chest.

                    CARL

          Hey Spence!

SPENCE opens lazy his eyes. Carl smiles slightly.

                    CARL

Still alive, good boy. We are almost there.

The Light changes to green. A car behind him honks his horn.

                    CARL

          yeah yeah, I’m driving!

Carls care moves off.

Spence yawns and sits up.

Carl turns into a parking lot.

INT/EXT. PARKING LOT - DAY

Carl looks again in the rear mirror and opens the seat belt.

                    CARL

          So, Boy. We are here.

Spence looks out of the window.

                    CARL

I don’t care if it is still raining.

Spence barks baerly audible.

                    CARL

It is for the best of you.

Spence looks short up, direct in the mirror.

                   CARL

Don’t look at me like that! your hazelnut colored eyes

will sadly not save you this time.

Spence looks again out of the window.

Carl sighs and rubs his face.

                    CARL

          Let’s do it!

Carl straightens his coat collar and puts his hood over his head. He opens the door. takes a deep breath and leaves the car. He opens the back door.

Spence moves to the other side of the bench.

                    CARL

For real now? It is just rain!

Carl wipes the rain from his face and leans in the car. He tries to grab Spences collar.

                    CARL

          Don’t be such a child!

Spence turns around his self and presses his face against the window.

                   CARL

You make it harder for you than it really is!

Spence looks with a sulky look in his eyes back to Carl.

                   CARL

          I just meant… Oh, common!

Carl pulls the leash on spencer collar and crawls back in the rain.

                    CARL

          Spence!

Carl pulls on the leash but Spence moves against him. Carl pulls stronger. He leans back, till he just stands on his heels. Spencer still against the leash. The Collar slowly moves up his Neck.

                      CARL

Spencer Amadeus Lakriz McDrummond! Be. a. good. Boooy!

The Collar slips over Spences head. With a loud splash Carl lands in the dirt.

                     CARL

               (raging)

          God, dammit!!

Spencer stands in the door. The tail happily moving.

                    CARL

Now, that makes you happy, hn?

With muddy Hands he pulls the hood back on his head and tries to stand up on the soaked ground.

Spencer barks.

                    CARL

I’m not the one with Hip problems here!

He wipes over his pants and looks up.

                      CARL

We said we lose the weight till to the summer, didn’t we?

Spencer looks at him with a slightly tilted head.

                     CARL

Yeah, that YOU can’t remember that, isn’t new.

He looks at Spence, a little breathless, his hands resting on his knees.

Spence sits down.

                    CARL

          Just three rounds.

Spence slowly turns the back to Carl.

Carl roles his eyes.

                    CARL

          Fine! Two and just walking!

Spence looks back to Carl. With an unimpressed face and still sitting.

Carl straightening up his whole Body.

                     CARL

               (yelling)

I am the boss here! And I say two rounds! if you not agree, you

will not get a good night snack for the next 4 weeks!

They both stare at each other. No movement at both sides.

Slowly Spences butt rises. His snout reaches the space where the raindrops hit it. He moves again a bit back in the car.

Carl rises an eyebrow and holds spencer collar against him.

After a short insecure moment, Spence jumps unmotivated and lands in front of Carl in the mud.

                    CARL

          Good Boy.

He puts the collar over his neck.

                     CARL (Cont’d)

         Was it so terrible now?

Carl pets the wet fur and sighs.

                    CARL

I guess I don’t need to take the Umbrella out of the trunk anymore.
