FADE IN:

INT. LIBRARY, CHILDREN'S SECTION -DAY

we hear the young children talking, yelling and playing. There is music from a radio/record player and one teacher sings along and we heard another talking maternally to a pupil.  everything we've seen is a blur, rack focus.

bright day light fills every nook, and makes the rainbow colored room and garments of the children glow.

A GLASS JAR; in perfect focus, slams into frame from the top, we crane down to reveal an ugly

SPIDER, with ten legs unlike anything seen before but not especially scary either.

REVERSE SHOT:

we see the spider in the jar from above, a child's hand on top, the child leans into the frame. we see the child's reflection scroll across the surface of the jar.

"do spiders scream?"

Teacher; distracted,  looks grimly at Andy for a moment without interruption.

CUT TO:

Unfazed, he slides a sheet under the jar and securing a lid, as he shakes the jar the spider makes a tinkling sound.

Andy galloping from the School bus to the exterior of a suburban home's garage.

INT. GARAGE -DAY

Andy enters and approaches the work bench.

intercut spider torcher montage, and each time he puts his ear against the glass listening for the screams but instead hears a shell like sound. he takes a brake, exiting into the house from the side door. he returns with a audio recorder and mic, he dips the mic into the jar.

Andy finds a soldering iron and; one by one, burns off the spiders legs from the tip down to the sternum.

CLOSE UP:

hold on the spider, now dead at the bottom of the jar.

CUT TO:

Andy collects the audio recorder and plays back the clip with his ear against the speaker.

INT. HOME, VARIOUS -NIGHT

continuous shot as the camera pulls away from:

we see an opening in a window and a strand of web, we drift along this spline and see that this is a kitchen window.

we see mom at the sink, then we see the table mostly clean from tonights dinner.

Into a small threshold between the kitchen, the garage entry, a hall and the banister.

further along the banister, the camera pans left to take the corner and we see the living room dad is asleep on the couch.

3rd rock from the sun is on tv.

over the stairs now, the spindles on the staircase flash by and the carpeted steps are  proximate and we watch as the tv gets further away, then the camera pans left again.

the second story looks enormous from the carpets POV and we truck forward now; straight ahead, toward the last door.

CUT TO:

INT.  ANDY'S BEDROOM -NIGHT

the lights in the room are off and a beam of light under the door seeps from the hallway.

up relatively high, we see a spider crawl in from under the door, then many spiders; all  moving toward the bed.

CUT TO:

bed sheets, a flock of siders skitter across.

CUT TO:

Andy;  asleep, tucked in. the spiders are on his bust crawling onward.

RETURN TO:

the relatively high camera pans from the crack under the door to Andy and trucks until it's over him.

REVERSE SHOT:

trucking down from the ceiling we see a spider descending on a spline of silk, it catches up and speeds past to exit the frame at the bottom.

The spider's head has a very human looking shape.

CUT TO:

extreme close-up of Andy's face.

as the spider enters the frame; descending from the top, the other spiders queue orderly covering from around his face to the tip of his nose.

the tip of his nose is where the descending spider lands.

ANANSI (cont.)

"Andy, i heard some very bad news today. One of my Kin; they were hurt very badly and died. now; my kin, our lives are very short when life brings of good tidings, so when i heard that our brother died so young it left an ache in heart. i can't be mad at life for the way it is because life it's self is fair to all of us.

But! Andy!

when my sister told me she what saw, i couldn't help but feel that way, angry."

PICK UP SHOT:

a spider breaks from the line and climbs over Andy's earlobe

the rank spider disappears into Andy's ear and others follows.

ANANSI(cont.):

"We don't want to resort to violence, Andy. because violence is senseless.

so, we will scream for you. Every time that you misbehave we will cry out and yell and scream until you are dizzy; unless, after tonight you will be a good saintly boy, and as for tonight..."
