BROTHER AND SISTER
Once there was a brother and sister. Their father and step mother had no money and the family could not eat. Their step mother tells their father that the children must be lead into the woods and left there as they eat too much food. The father agrees, but is very sad at his wife's plan. The brother hears the plan and goes out into the night to pick up white rocks.
The next day the children are taken into the woods and left there alone. Along the way the little boy drops the white rocks marking the way back. The children follow the rocks home and the step mother is mad. The next day the father and step mother again lead the children into the woods. This time the little boy leaves food to mark the way home. Animals eat the food and the children become lost. The children find a home made of sweets. They begin eating the home because they have nothing else to eat. An old woman comes out and asks the kids to come inside. She plans to eat the children.
The old woman gives the boy food to make him big before eating him. She decides to eat the little girl too. The little girl pushes the old woman into the hot small space and locks her in killing her. The little girl frees her brother and the pair find money in the home made of sweets. They hide the money in their clothes and an animal takes them across the water home.
They arrive home to find only their father as their step mother has died. No one knows how the step mother died. Their father is so happy the children are home as he was so sad at leaving the children in the woods. With the old woman's money they are very happy for the rest of their lives.
