To Sleep, To Dream

Cover Image

You lie down. Your body sinks into the mattress. You close your eyes. Your breathing slows. Your heart rate goes down. You relax. Your thoughts start to jumble and make less and less sense. You feel everything fade away as you drift off.

You go to a thousand places, do thousands of things, become all sorts of people. Some of what happens is logical, some of it isn't. It doesn't really matter-it all seems real anyway.

Then you wake up, exactly where you were before. You need a minute to adjust, to convince yourself that it was all just a dream. Nothing has changed, except that some time has passed. You did so much and yet so little. You didn't really do anything at all.
