INT. BEDROOM. MORNING.
MONICA wakes up and rolls over in bed. DAVID lies beside her, still sleeping. Monica coughs suddenly, waking David up.
Yeah, I’m fine, I just coughed. It’s not like I had a heart attack or anything.
OK, no need to be snippy, I was just making sure.
Snippy? You think I’m snippy?
Here we go.
Where do you get off calling me snippy! Honestly!
Monica throws off her sheets and gets up, storming into the bathroom and slamming the door. David groans and rolls over.
INT. KITCHEN. MORNING.
Monica is sitting at the table with her coffee, reading the paper. David cautiously walks in, heading for the coffee maker.
Good morning, by the way.
MONICA (Still angry)
David pours his coffee.
You feeling better?
I wasn’t ever feeling bad! Why do you think that there’s something wrong with me!
DAVID (Under his breath)
Cause something is?
I heard that, smartass.
Congratulations! I won’t have to pay for a hearing aid for you.
You’re implying that I’m hearing impaired? And who says that you’d be paying for it? I have a job too, you know! You’re not the only one with an income, David!
So you’ll be paying for some anger management classes, then?
Maybe I’ll foot the bill for your hospital stay when I break your arm.
Can I just note that I take Karate lessons, not you?
Don’t think I haven’t been watching you.
Monica takes a sip of her coffee, coughing when she swallows. David takes his coffee cup into the other room.
Aren’t you going to ask me if I’m OK?
DAVID (Calling back)
I know better!
Monica turns back to her paper, more than a little ticked off.
DAVID (Calling again)
When shall we continue our talk about the fact that we fight too much?
MONICA (Yelling back)
How about now! I'm not doing anything!
You're reading the paper!
So you're busy!
If I am, it's your fault!
There's a silence.
DAVID (A little quieter)
I'm having this strange sensation of deja vu.
MONICA (Also quieter)
Welcome to my world, baby.
