INT. STAGE

A young man, PETER, sits in chair with a tired and sad expression.

Peter teeters on the brink of sleep.

A sudden loud knock on the door startles Peter.

PETER
What in the hell?

Peter trudges towards his door.

As soon as Peter cracks open his door, and energetic man, CHRISTOPHER, flies through the door.

CHRISTOPHER
You’re here! Thank god.

TIRED MAN
Who are you? What are you doing in my house? Police!

Christopher sprints towards Peter

Christopher covers Peter’s mouth.

Peter tries to yell but is muffled.

CHRISTOPHER
Will you calm down Peter?

Peter nods his smothered head.

CHRISTOPHER
Okay. Now, my name is Christopher and I…

As soon as Christopher uncovers Peter’s mouth, Peter shakes loose from Christopher’s grip.

PETER
Help! Police! Secret Service! Anyone!

Peter rushes to his door but stops in his tracks.

Peter turns to face Christopher who has calmly sat down.

PETER
How did you know my name, and why aren’t you attacking me?

CHRISTOPHER
You sound disappointed.

PETER
No. I mean I should be burgled, I have many valuable things.

CHRISTOPHER
That’s very nice.

Peter begins to run across the room.

PETER
I really do I have a nice couch and a TV. A wonderful loofa.

CHRISTOPHER
You don’t need to do this, that is not why I am here.

Peter stops in his tracks and shoots a suspicious look towards Christopher.

PETER
I’ve got it. You want money! I have plenty of that! I assure you I am very well off.

Christopher rushes toward Peter and grabs him by the shoulders.

CHRISTOPHER
Will you stop!

PETER
That’s it , now you’re in the spirit. Let me get you some valuables.

Christopher unhands Peter and walks away with a frustrated look.

CHRISTOPHER
I came here for
(pauses)
Your music.

Peter is taken aback.

PETER
My music? How did you know I play…

CHRISTOPHER
(interrupts)
The piano, the guitar, the flute, the oboe.

PETER
(excited)
Are you a talent scout?

CHRISTOPHER
Better.

PETER
Better? Who are you?

CHRISTOPHER
I’m nobody.

PETER
You got that right. What the hell are you doing here then?

CHRISTOPHER
Let me finish. Being a nobody is only my part time job.

PETER
I’d love to see what you do fulltime.

CHRISTOPHER
I was hoping you’d say that. I am a fulltime photographer.

PETER
Yippee. Was that the big twist, the grand prize? Wow, you take pictures, thanks for invading my house.

CHRISTOPHER
No, no you don’t understand. I am a photographer and I need you.

PETER
Oh I get it. Look I’m not into nude pictures or anything, despite my model-like figure.

CHRISTOPHER
It’s not your figure I need. It’s your music.

PETER
So you heard my music somewhere, you found out who I was and where I live and decided to barge into my house and ask me for it?

CHRISTOPHER
I heard you perform at a small club. I think your music is brilliant.

PETER
Well now you are starting to make some sense.

CHRISTOPHER
The way I see it, your music and my photographs could be beautifully integrated.

PETER
So you want me to place live music and one of your art shows or something?

CHRISTOPHER
Actually, I have a friend who does video…

PETER
Oh great, more crazy people like you, no doubt.

CHRISTOPHER
My friend could make a video compilation of my photos and pair it with your music.

PETER
What makes you think I will just lend you my musi?. Just because you had the guts to barge in here…

CHRISTOPHER
I just thought that maybe you would be interested in getting your creativity out into the world a little more. Maybe meet some people, expand your creative horizon.

PETER
Okay, okay I see what you’re doing here. You want me to just give away my music and then you make off with the money. No way.

CHRISTOPHER
No way! Whatever comes of our little venture, we split. You get out of it exactly what you put into it. And from what I’ve heard from you, you will get quite a lot.

PETER
Let’s say I’m marginally interested in this little venture. I don’t have much money here and from the looks of it neither do you. How do you intend to get this going?

CHRISTOPHER
I figure we get together with a bunch of artists and musicians and writers and see what comes out of it.

PETER
More people to split the money with?

CHRISTOPHER
Yes, but at the price of better quality.

PETER
And others have agreed with this crazy idea?

CHRISTOPHER
Plenty of people have the creative talent. They just need a place to let it free. That’s what we’re here for.

PETER
So these people would be able to use my music with their own projects.

CHRISTOPHER
Yup. They do what they want with it and if they make something worthwhile, you split the profits with them.

PETER
I guess it beats sitting around and making fondue all day. So what now?

CHRISTOPHER
Now, we just get you to your instruments, hit record, and you do the rest.

PETER
You’re lucky.

CHRISTOPHER
Why’s that?

PETER
You made a very wise choice contacting me.

CHRISTOPHER
And we greatly appreciate you time.
