The Mcguillicutty House

Fade in:

Int. Dining Room. Night
James and Penny Mcguillicutty sit across from each other eating macaroni & cheese. A married couple in their late 20s.They're not speaking to each other, just silently eating.

James
Will you say something interesting?

Penny
Excuse me?

James
Something interesting. Will you say something interesting?

Penny
Like what?

James
I don't know, something.

Penny
I don't know what to say.

James
Exactly. It's stale. It's boring.

Penny
Well, you say something interesting.

James
I can't. That's what i'm saying. It's not just you it's the both of us. We're lost.

Penny
Well, let's find ourselves.

James
I don't know how.

Penny
Well let's try to do something interesting, then. Let's go out.

James
We don't have any money. We're eating macaroni & cheese for god's sake.

Penny
Well, let's just do something here that's out of the ordinary.

James
Have sex?

Penny
I don't think so. That's definitely not interesting.

James
Well, what then? Stand on our chairs and dance around like chickens.

Penny
Absolutely!

Penny stands up in her chair.

James
Are you serious?

Penny
Why not?

James looks at her incredulously for a moment. He laughs and then stands up in his chair.

James
So, now we dance like chickens?

Penny
Is this at all how you saw the evening going?

James
Definitely not.

Penny
Well, dance, chicken.

They both dance around like chickens for a few moments, then stop. They both hop down and sit back in their seats. They start back eating their meals.

James
Are we insane?

Penny
At least we're not boring.

James
I love you.

Penny
Yeah, i guess i love you, too.
