Fixin' to (Poem Every Day - Day Fourteen)

I'm fixin' to fix my hair.

I gotta look good.

Get myself dressed up nice.

For the girl who never notices me.

I'll walk up to her, feeling good.

She will take my order.

I'll smile and say "Thank you darlin'"

She won't take notice.

She never does.

I'm fixin' to go into that joint.

And ask her on a date.

But first, maybe I'll ask her name.

Or maybe I'll say "Hey, let me take you out and then I can find out your name."

Maybe she'll go. Probably not.

Hell, I'm fixin' to try.
