I'm not afraid of the dark itself, but how our imagination works when we're in the dark. With our eyes open, our brain is constantly receiving images from what we see and recognizing where we are. When we can not see, all we have left is dark, and then, we start to build the world around us.
The dark is the unknown. Everything can be there - but we only know for sure what it is when we turn on the light.
