A Hymn Gone Awry

Cover Image

Broken marbles for eyes
Make cracked mirror images
Into miracle circus freak shows

Paper mouths flutter
Cutting tongues as white lies slip by
Dropping ink blot smirks into open palms-
This, the sacrament of secrets

Sour wind's note
A hymn gone awry
Collects in the absence of tissue
Mist of thorns resting in joints

Ghosting breath burrows into smoke signals
A reconnaissance of the ethereal flight
Of pastel positives making stars appear
Now forest floor lit – heavy gasps sound.
