Sifting [Poem Every Day--13]

Cover Image

I sift, obsessed

Through cardboard treasure boxes

Of other people's memories

Fiber reprints from a time and place so far away

In converted barracks where lived

The residues of war

Familiar faces are rewound,

Wearing expressions that echo down

on through

I comb images for sameness between

Them and me

Hoping to spin an invisible string

Counting clues of things surrounding, I

Grasp for a key

to the past

Answers to questions

Never asked

(This one's a bit late due to the celebration of my dad's birthday.)
