The Final Product
I was trained to love my mother.
My mother did the best she could.
She was a product of her mother.
I was trained to love my father.
He did the best he could.
He was a product of his mother.
Their best was not good enough.
My mother frustrated me with her actions.
My father hurt me with his words.
I am a product of neither.
I am a lieutenant.
I am a general.
I am a captain.
I no longer aid in my oppression.
I am at war.
I am a product of war.
I rise in the morning battered and tend to my wounds at night.
I can now hold my head high with pride.
I am finally a human being.
