Haiku Reading #4 (Fallen to the earth ...)

Audio

This is a reading of a haiku by famed haiku poet Matsuo Bashō (1644 – 1694).

In Japanese:

地に倒れ根に寄り花の別れかな

In hiragana:

ちにたおれねによりはなのわかれかな

Transliteration:

Chi ni taore / ne ni yori hana no / wakare kana

My translation attempt:

Fallen to the earth
the flower's final farewell
rests upon its roots

My mother did this reading. The haiku is read four times in succession. The third time is very slow so every syllable can be heard clearly.
