Vampires and junk (poem a day - 7)

Cover Image

Burning heart and hiding from the sun
avert your eyes for now you know you must
be cloaked from the first rays of the sun's rise

Never again, you know now, will you rise
forget the color of each new early sun
if you are to go on, you know you must

Close your eyes against it if you must
at darkening you may see fit to rise
and waken only at the setting sun

It ends, immortal: always the sun must rise.
