her smile tired and stretched a little too wide,

long term care, she says

is not for me. Not my kind

of people, she laughs, lays

her hands palm up on the table,

body language open, mind closed.

see I like helping people,

she continues, the emotional connection

and they're just not -- she pauses, perhaps finally uncomfortable

denying our residents their humanity.

-- some of them can't even talk, you know?
