Dear Major Bennett,
As I lie on my deathbed, certain upleasant thoughts weigh heavy on my heart.
Therefore, I am writing to ask for your forgiveness. Perhaps I was overzealous when I testified at your court martial. Though I did not see you commit the offensive, I felt it was nonetheless my patriotic duty to support the prosecution. Albeit, I did accept immunity.
As I was young and naive, I am certain that you can understand my actions.
Henry Adam Wood
p.s. It was and honor and a pleasure to serve under your command.
