Dear Jasmine,
I am writing this to you to let you know that you (and Kyungmi) are the most important and beautiful people in my life. Your beauty starts from inside you and you can visibly see it radiating out from you smile. You are of course physically beautiful (duh) (I love it when you put your hair up it makes you look so elegant and refined!). I don’t want you to just focus on your external beauty though, because how you look will change as you get older. You can see beauty even in old and wrinkly ladies, because of their spirit. Your soul, your actions, your treatment of others, that is what will truly make you timelessly beautiful. And as I said you already radiate this beauty, you have a joy for life that oozes from your every pore. I am not saying that you don’t experience hardships and pain, you do, and you feel it keenly, and I am so sorry to say that you will continue to experience pain throughout your life, but it is how you react to these struggles that makes you so inspiring. The fact that you don’t let them keep you down, that you still manage to smile, that you can continue to laugh, and that you even try to help others, shows that your beauty is more way more than skin deep.
I know of course you have times (we all do) when you do not feel as gorgeous as people say (even if people reassure that you are amazing) so here is a quote ( I love quotes) : “There is no exquisite beauty… without some strangeness in the proportion.” I honestly do believe that the parts of ourselves we may be most self conscious about could be one of the main things others find most appealing. Beauty really is in the “flaws” of a person. If you can even call them flaws since they are what make you different, and being different means that people will look, and when people look, people see how beautiful you are. Ok, here is an example, between a clear diamond and a blue diamond, a blue diamond costs way more. You know what makes it blue? The diamond is not pure, it has a flaw it is mixed with another element, but it makes it even prettier.
I don’t know if they are going to be reading this letter out loud so I won’t list all of your physical attributes I find amazing (give you a hint though, I don’t have nearly as much as you do) but the top ones would be: your smile, actually your whole face (including your ears), your skin (it looks like caramel), your super long legs, your ability to pull off floral prints, your brown hair (its cool especially since Kyung and I both have black, but yours is brown) it matches your skin so well. You have the most amazingly big round deep eyes (framed by beautiful thick eyebrows) that are really windows into your soul. Your face is so expressive, (never lose that) you can see the joy and happiness you feel so clearly, because you can’t hide it its ALL over your amazing face.
Of course there will be those idiots who cannot see your beauty. DO NOT take it personally, they have been brainwashed by society’s false (completely photoshopped) ideals for beauty. You know if people were the actual proportions of supermodels in magazines, their spines would snap in half? So feel sorry for these people, because they will never find what they are looking for, and they will never truly be happy with any real person.
You are perfect, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Love,
Kaira your big sister.
