We’ve seen a lot of grains of sand
but not all grains of sand on Earth,
and yet we guess we understand
the large amount their sum is worth.
So, when a scientist explains
the stars that in the heavens shine
by far outnumber all these grains,
we get a sense of the divine.
Though this analogy’s not new,
from ancient times it has been told,
it helps, as it’s related to
some articles that we can hold.
Since sand is something we can clasp,
we think we gain a better grasp.
