just another minute

By kouralilly

im building you a time machine
not so we can go anywhere
but a special kind of time machine
the kind that puts time there.

it manufactures seconds
it adds hours to the day
it slows the spinning of the world
and elongates the sun’s rays.

now, i thought to build a rocket
that could take us to the stars
or a ship to sail the bluest sea
but i don’t want to travel far.

you see, it’s like confetti
bursting out to falling rain
the moments we’ve spent side by side
have gone as they began

and i want to keep our memories
i don’t want to change what was
the time that we already have -
that should be untouched.

so i’m building you a time machine
that slows the waning moon
and keeps the nights spent in your arms
away from daylight’s ruin.

im building you a time machine
not so we can go anywhere
but a special kind of time machine
the kind that puts time there.
