When the world was still young, the sky had no stars nor clouds.
It did however have the sun and the moon. In the morning the sky was the lightest blue, and at night it was the deepest black. One night the first man looked up into the night sky and decided to paint it, because it seemed so empty. After all, he didn’t have much to do as the world was so new.
He made himself some paint, a paintbrush and a ladder. He climbed up into the enormous sky to begin his masterpiece. But he found that he had forgotten his paint! He did not feel at all like climbing such a long way down to get it. By then his inspiration would surely be gone!
So he looked around for something that could take its place. He set his eyes on a bright shinny ball hiding behind the moon. It was the sun. He smiled, dipped his brush into the bright light, and made the stars. After completing the night sky he went to work on the morning sky.
He just couldn’t decide what to paint, so since then he paints the sky a different masterpiece everyday.
