They're All Grown Ups Now (a poem)

Cover Image

A little poem I wrote for a brainstorming session

Their sincerity's taken for granted
They're thanked with laughter or a grin
They injure themselves to amuse us
Over and over again
Lend them some attention
That's all they really need
Some affection will not kill you
It won't even make you bleed
With painted faces and flapping feet, they travel many miles
The kids have all grown up they learn
Now the clowns have ceased to smile
What happened to the children?
Their dreams have changed a lot
It's sad to think that now, these days,
Nobody dreams of being an astronaut
