Lead By Butterflies [lyrics]

By kendreebrinae

Verse One:
I'm endlessly searching
For home.
I'm desperately looking
For some
Somewhere we can sing.
Somewhere we are free.
Where there are no lies.
I'm following butterflies.

Chorus:
Butterfly, butterfly,
Whence do you come?
I know not, I ask not,
I never had a home.
Butterfly, butterfly,
Where do you go?
Where the sun shines and
Where the buds grow.

Verse Two:
I once found a place,
I thought it was right.
It was just a facade,
As wretched as night.
Masked with lovely,
And covered with light.
There was no holy,
It was only a fright.

Chorus:
Butterfly, butterfly,
Whence do you come?
I know not, I ask not,
I never had a home.
Butterfly, butterfly,
Where do you go?
Where the sun shines and
Where the buds grow.

Bridge:
Lost in the dark,
In Nightmare Park.
And everyone there
Is pretending to care.
Their frozen, icy souls,
Have given me a cold.
Now I'm craving warmth,
And I'm needing the sun.
I'll find home someday,
After butterflies I'll run.

Chorus: x2
Butterfly, butterfly,
Whence do you come?
I know not, I ask not,
I never had a home.
Butterfly, butterfly,
Where do you go?
Where the sun shines and
Where the buds grow.

Butterfly, butterfly,
Whence do you come?
I know not, I ask not,
I never had a home.
Butterfly, butterfly,
Where do you go?
Where the sun shines and
Where the buds grow.

Outro:
Butterflies lead me home
Butterflies lead me home
Butterflies lead me home

[author's note: This song is about a girl who suffers from an addiction. We all know that the closest thing to purity is a child, SO she goes to a children's nursery rhyme, "Butterfly, Butterfly", which is the chorus of the song, as a source of advice and hope. She's hoping that these butterflies will bring her salvation. In the second place, it's metaphorically talking about her addiction and how she thought it would be what made her happy but in reality it was misery and darkness masked with happiness and light. The bridge is about high school in a sense, or just bad friends who got her into this addiction and how she thought they were helping her because they cared but they were cold hearted.
This song is written to be dark, not light and cheerful. This is not a happy ending... not yet anyways. I imagine it to be sung with only the piano and maybe some strings, but whatever you guys think. I'd love to sing it if someone could put up a melody they think sounds good, so composers, CHECK IT OUT! I think it would be awesome accompanied by a dancer, maybe contemporary, who displays the darkness and pain in the song.
Thanks guys!]
