Character who? Character me.
Who is the character? I am the character.
More or less who am I? I am a character.
I need to understand character. Not a character. Not my character. Not yet.
Lets 'think' about character for a sec.
The definition of character is.
1. the aggregate of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing.
2. one such feature or trait; characteristic.
8. a person, esp. with reference to behavior or personality: a suspicious character.
10. a person represented in a drama, story, etc.
11. a part or role, as in a play or film.
The definition states it plainly. Character is the individual nature of a person or a behavior or personality, basically a person.
A character is also a person represented in a story.. Batman is a character..
In this case a person is a character. A person has a character. Which persons? All persons.
Ok, I am a person. Therefore I have a character and am a character.
Whoa! Big point of misunderstanding here.
From what I have previously understood a character was only a person represented in a story.
I am definitely not being represented in any stories. There are no stages around where I am practicing my character.
So get this. In film productions they are capturing just that. They are capturing the characters. The characters are acting. In a film they capture the actions of a character and in a book they tell of the actions and 'characteristics' of a character. Ok well, are the 'actions' I commit every day any different that the 'actions' of the characters in a film or a story? I really don't see a difference.
In this sense I am acting just as a character. Well, I am a character. Not any character you might have heard of. Definitely not any character being represented in a story..
I understand.. I am a character. I have a character. Every person is a character and has a character.
