INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY.
A small, private room.
An OLD MAN lays in the bed, unconscious. Beside his bed sits a YOUNG WOMAN.
The machines monitoring the man BEEP steadily, the only indication that he is in fact still alive. The Young Woman sits very still, maintaining her bedside vigil.
The door to the room OPENS and a NURSE enters.
Reluctantly the Young Woman turns to face him.
Just need to check the machines.
The Young Woman nods, turns back to the man in the bed. He hasn't stirred at all, dead to the world in all but the clinical sense.
The nurse checks the machines, takes some readings and jots a few notes onto the Old Man's chart. As he does so he glances at the Young Woman, both fascinated and puzzled by her.
She does not seem to notice.
(clearing his throat)
Visiting hour finishes in ten minutes.
INT. HALLWAY - HOUSE - LATER.
The Young Woman hangs her coat up on the hook beside the door.
INT. LIVING ROOM - HOUSE.
She settles into an armchair, her expression very grim indeed.
Pan slowly over to a nearby cabinet, upon which there are many framed photographs propped up. All depict the Old Man alone.
Except for one.
Right at the back, deliberately concealed behind the others, is a creased black and white of the Old Man - then a young man - and the Young Woman.
She has not aged one day.
FADE TO BLACK.
