Words for By Road

By Kate

This isn't even remotely polished, I'm just mucking around and sort of using it as an example. Sort of.

Take my hand. My tips are cold.
The heat of your palms will warm them.
The time I have waited
pulled hard on my skin
Silver and gray on my own.

Get the door. Leave it open.
Let the neighbours wonder and see.
Pack some bags while I have them
Full past the brim
Silver and gray and its gone.

Hit the road. Mount the curbs.
Light in my eyes as I shield them.
The road underneath us
A mouth full of stars
Silver and gray and you with me.
